Evolving Views presents a single subject, a thistle, across multiple states of existence and making. The plant moves between representation and material presence, between image and object. The work is constructed from stacked and connected canvases, with sections cut, exposed, and pulled forward, allowing different surfaces and moments of creation to exist simultaneously, collapsing distinctions between front and back, surface and support.

The thistle appears in shifting forms: from a reworked artificial plant to a sketched abstraction, from a more descriptive image to more lyrical and abstract versions. These states are not meant to suggest a linear progression but coexist within the same structure.

Exposed stretcher bars and raw canvas remain visible, emphasizing construction as an active part of the work rather than something hidden or resolved.

The thistle functions as a constant that mutates across styles, techniques, and materials. It is depicted as something observed, imagined, and physically manipulated. Through this fragmentation, the work holds multiple viewpoints at once, revealing how an image is built, altered, and redefined through process.

Evolving Views exists in the tension between depiction and disruption, where drawing, painting, abstraction, and material intervention operate together. The work does not resolve into a single image but remains suspended between stages, allowing process, revision, and exposure to shape the final experience.
