A free standing painting that can be viewed from all sides attached to a mannequin that has been covered with canvas and painted. "The Bather" is a 6-foot tall free-standing floor painting that features a mannequin covered in painted canvas. The artwork can be viewed from all sides. It is homage to Paul Cézanne's "The Bather," evident in both the mannequin itself and the depiction of the scenery on the front of the canvas. On the backside of the canvas, there is Cézanne's figure that appears to seep through from the front. As though it is a shadow image of the mannequin. Canvas cloth drapes from the mannequin’s figure and pools at the bottom among real sea shells, creating a sense of animation. The artwork combines both 2D and 3D elements, merging traditional painting techniques with a hint of virtual animation.
